Job Description/RequirementsJob Type:Fixed Term Contract Full TimeLocation:NairobiJob PurposeReportingto the Program Director, the job holder will be expected to provideexcellent technical service and support in regards to the provision ofguidance and specialist immigration advice to prospective and enrolledinternational Mastercard Foundation Scholars at USIU-Africa. The rolealso includes Scholar data management and periodic report preparation.TheSenior Immigration Officer will be the first point of contact todeliver accurate immigration advice to the Scholars whether in person,via email or telephone, carry out complex casework as necessary and tomaintain comprehensive confidential records. They will provide a highstandard of customer service.Key ResponsibilitiesWorkclosely with the Selection and Recruitment team to provide advice onthe immigration requirements that an international Scholar must meet inorder to study in Kenya.Facilitate and support the passport and/ or Refugee travel document applications for the selected Scholars.Facilitateand Process visa applications for international Scholars selected, andprocess student passes and alien cards for the Scholars once they arrivein Kenya.Keep and up to date immigration record of all International Scholars and their immigration statuses.Process visa extensions and Student pass renewals.Provide basic immigration and general travel advice to selected scholars and those already enrolled at the university.Workclosely with the Kenyan immigration office to ensure that allinternational Scholars are issued with student pass, Alien Cards andvisa extensions where necessary.Providethe Scholars Program with accurate up-to-date lists of all registeredinternational Scholars on student pass and visa at each intake, and atother points throughout the year as appropriate.Communicateregularly with registered Scholars on student pass at the University toensure that our student records are updated to reflect any changes incircumstances, such as a change of contact details or immigration statusand where necessary.Liaisewith key external stakeholders as required, in particular the KenyanVisa and Immigration Office at the Ministry of Foreign affairs andRefugee Affairs Secretariat to support refugee students.Contributeto the development and update of immigration related information forprospective international scholars provided via the university websiteand in printed publications, as required.Any other duty as may be assigned by the direct reporting.Minimum Educational Qualifications and Professional ExperienceBachelor’s Degree in education, social sciences or other relevant field, from an accredited universityAt least three (3) years of progressive experience in handling immigration matters in a reputable organization.Skills and CompetenciesKnowledge of the Higher Education Sector and the challenges surrounding international students’ immigrationCompetency in use of Government of Kenya Immigration Systems e.g EFNSKnowledgeof the Immigration Rules including that of the Kenyan government andthe ability to interpret complex rules and regulationsAdministrative experience, preferably in the education sectorAdvanced knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and AccessOutstanding customer service skillsProblem-solvingStrong organizational skills with the ability to successfully multi-taskMaintaining records systemsA pro active and enthusiastic team playerSelf-motivated with an ability to thrive under pressureCustomer-focused with the ability to communicate at all levels with internal and external stakeholders.Ifyou have the requisite qualifications and experience and desire to workas a team member in a modern, progressive, international andmulticultural institution where you can make a difference, please apply.Interested applicants must indicate on the subject line of their emailaddress the position they are applying for, provide current CVs,copiesof educational certificates and transcripts, names and addresses ofthree referees, current salary and benefits, telephone and e-mailcontacts to the address below by:Friday, June 18, 2021Director of Administration,United States International University - Africa,P.
