Job Description/RequirementsThe Society is seeking a qualified candidate to fill the following position:Position Title:Logistics OfficerReporting to:Administratively to Head of Operations (Dadaab) and functionally to Senior Logistics OfficerJob Location:DadaabPURPOSE:Responsibleto the Senior Logistics Officer for developing strategic plan andbudget for responsive distribution and transportation system to ensuretimely delivery of materials, goods and supplies according to orderspecifications aimed at supporting programme implementation.Key responsibilitiesDevelop,implement and evaluate strategic plan and budget for the acquisition,repair and maintenance of the Society’s fleet of motor-vehicles andrelated equipment in order to ensure efficiency and economy ofoperations.Design,develop, implement and evaluate transport fleet management policy onfleet utilisation, maintenance and repair to provide transportation ofsupplies including continuous improvement of safety and service qualityDevelop and implement adequate logistics preparedness through contingency planning and continuous review of logistic operationsCoordinatethe implementation of a computerised transport fleet managementinformation system aimed at maintaining motor-vehicle inventory as wellas monitoring, tracking and controlling operating costs.Coordinateloading of materials, goods and supplies from the headquarterwarehousing and storage for distribution according to orderspecificationsCoordinatedeployment of motor-vehicle drivers to provide efficient and safetransportation as well as obtain optimum use of transport resources.Developand implement a planned preventive and curative maintenance programmeaimed at ensuring that the Society’s fleet of motor-vehicles areroutinely maintained according to prescribed standards.Initiateinvestigations into causes of accidents in conjunction with trafficpolice, examine and inspect motor-vehicles to identify extent of damage,evaluate and estimate repair costs and recommending appropriate action.Conferwith traffic police and insurance companies to ensure properdocumentation of accident reports and following up to establish theextent and implications of accident liability against the SocietyCoordinatethe repair and maintenance of motor-vehicles in authorised garagesagainst approved requisitions. Also follow up to ensure thatmotor-vehicles are repaired to the highest standards of quality andwithin budget limitationsAnalysemonthly motor-vehicle returns and maintain a record on fuel and oilconsumption, repairs and maintenance as well as accidents and safety.Develop, coordinate and implement the registration, insurance and licensing of motor vehicle transport systemsParticipatein the performance evaluation exercise by monitoring and evaluating theperformance of individual Drivers against defined targets andobjectives.Assesstraining needs as well as implement on-the-job training programmesaimed at equipping Drivers with the necessary knowledge and skills todrive motor-vehicles safely and to undertake routine maintenance.Representthe Society at meetings, conferences and workshops and other forums topromote the activities of KRCS and articulate humanitarian relief issuesPrepareconcept papers, periodic progress reports and annual reports showingachievements of the Logistics unit against planned targets as well asproviding justification for performance variancesMinimum QualificationsBachelor’sdegree in Business Administration or equivalent qualifications plusmembership to a relevant professionally body in Transport FleetManagementOver three (3) years’ experience in logistics and transport managementProficiency in ICTKey CompetenciesPrinciples, methods and techniques of optimizing transportation, distribution, maintenance and repair of motor vehicle fleet.Knowledge of methods, techniques and procedures involved in maintenance, repairs and replacement.Knowledge of a computerized Fleet Management Information System.Considerableknowledge of safety practices and the mechanics of diesel and gasengine as well as sources for obtaining parts and supplies required.Ability to troubleshoot, diagnose and coordinate the timely repair of vehicles.Proficiency in word processing, database, spreadsheet applications and computerised procurement and stores software packagesApplication ProcedureInterested candidates who meet the above qualifications should apply strictly through https://www.redcross.or.ke/Careers so as to reach us not later than so as to reach us not later than6th August 2021;Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.Jobdisclaimer and notification: Kenya Red Cross Society is an equalopportunity employer and does not charge / accept any amount or securitydeposit from job seekers during the selection process or while invitingcandidates for an interview.
