Job Description/RequirementsThe Society is seeking a qualified candidate to fill the following position:Position Title:Laboratory TechnologistReporting to:Laboratory Technologist in ChargeJob Location:DadaabPURPOSE:Theoverall objective of the position is to ensure smooth running oflaboratory services in the hospital. He/she will also ensure accurateprocessing and timely dissemination of results.Key ResponsibilitiesCoordinate day-to-day operations to ensure quality laboratory services are delivered to beneficiaries.Providemedical laboratory diagnostic and therapeutic information, products andservices by establishing specimen preparation procedures, developingand implementing analytical procedures, evaluating laboratoryinformation and reporting results according to protocols.Maintainmedical laboratory equipment performance by establishing qualitystandards, developing operations, quality and troubleshootingprocedures, certifying instrument performance, arranging equipmentreplacement, service, and repair.Maintainmedical laboratory supplies inventory by checking stock to determineinventory level, anticipating needed supplies, placing and expeditingorders for supplies, verifying receipt of supplies.Maintainmedical laboratory productivity by monitoring workload of functionalareas, identifying peak and slack periods, making operationaladjustment.Maintainquality results by participating in quality assurance process,performing proficiency surveys, reviewing quality control and qualityassurance programs, making adjustments in policy and procedures,generating reports and maintaining records.Maintainmedical laboratory information system by identifying information needsand problems, recommending improvements, establishing priorities,testing and writing & reviewing SoPs.Implementnew programs, tests, methods, instrumentation and procedures byinvestigating alternatives, preparing proposals, developing andperforming parallel testing and monitoring progress.Maintainregular contact with clients suffering from various diseases to monitortheir progress and response to medications by doing baselineinvestigations.Organize and conduct blood drive periodically.Minimum QualificationsBachelor’s degree/Higher Diploma or Diploma in Laboratory field.At least three (2)’ years practical relevant work experience as a Laboratory Technologist.Valid and current registration with Kenya Medical Laboratory Technicians and Technologist board (KMLTTB)Key CompetenciesAt least 2 years working in a busy hospital set up in laboratory section.Strong leadership, team building, conflict resolution and ability to deliver the Society’s strategic objectives.Demonstratedproficiency and computer applications such as word processing,spreadsheets, database, email and utilization of the internet.Should be a team player and culturally sensitive.Strong communication skills: oral, written and presentation skills.Application ProcedureInterested candidates who meet the above qualifications should apply strictly through https://www.redcross.or.ke/Careers so as to reach us not later than so as to reach us not later than6th August 2021;Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.Jobdisclaimer and notification: Kenya Red Cross Society is an equalopportunity employer and does not charge / accept any amount or securitydeposit from job seekers during the selection process or while invitingcandidates for an interview.
