Job Description/RequirementsReporting to: Finance, Administration & HR ManagerEmployer: Dynamic start-up in the Renewable Energy sectorLocation: Nairobi, Kenya – Full time (local travel as/when required)Duration: Initial 3-month Probation with Permanent contract based on satisfactory performanceAbout the companyWe are a dynamic start-up in the renewable energy sector focused on generating hydroelectric power for both On-grid and Off-grid energy projects.We provide reliable, affordable and sustainable access to energy in the rural Africa.Job SummaryAs part of our continued growth in Kenya and the EAC region, we are looking for a Human Resource & Administration Officer.We offer• An Entrepreneurial and Dynamic work environment• Flexibility and Autonomy to organize your work while meeting deadlines and expectations• Opportunity to grow along with the company and take up more responsibilitiesRole Duties & ResponsibilitiesHuman Resource Function• Assisting in recruitment, selection, new employee onboarding• Organize and maintain employee records (leave, benefits, vacation)• Prepare HR documents such as employee contracts and guides• Update job requirements and descriptions for all positions• Update and maintain company policies and procedures• Ensure employee payroll data is up to date and statutory requirements are met• Assist with employee performance management• Analyse and communicate employee training needs• Ensure employee health, safety and welfare• Implementing and communicating disciplinary procedures and dealing with employee grievances• Overseeing employee exit requirements• Perform any other duties assigned by managementAdministration Function• Office Management: Welcome visitors, Coordinate company meetings and events, facility, Facility and Office supplies sourcing• Travel: Arrange and schedule for all employee travel logistics and accommodation• Correspondence: Handle in-coming and out-going company communication• Payments: Enter payments for approval, Manage petty-cash payments• Accounting: Pre-accounting work and documents filing• Legal: Prepare contracts for review and documents for signature• Ensure efficient use of company assets and resources and their security• Ensure timely reports on incidences within the company• Provide administrative support where needed• Perform any other duties assigned by managementQualification, Skills and ExperienceMinimum qualification: Diploma with related professional certificates or Degree in Human Resource Management/Business Management/ Business Administration or equivalentExperience level: Entry-levelPreferred Experience:• 2-5 years of relevant experience to the role in a busy HR and Administration department• Exposure and understanding of Kenyan Labour LawsBehavioural/Personal attributes:• Highly organized with attention to detail• Confident• Initiative to learn and take responsibility• Strong ethical standards and dependable• Proactive team player• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.Skills• Strong problem-solving skills• High level of coordination skills• High-level written and verbal communication skills (MS Office Proficient)• Strong social skills
