With more than 93‘000 employees, SGS operates a network of over 2‘600 offices and laboratories around the world.VACANCY :We are looking to fill the position of General Tax Compliance Manager – Nairobi Hub, reporting to the Tax Lead, Africa.The incumbent will be responsible for the support of local finance teams where the finance function is managed in the Nairobi Hub as well as Group Taxation. This will be achieved by following up on the status of tax audits of countries within the hub and supporting the local finance teams and documentation collection where needed. Assisting with the review of all tax accounts monthly. Assist with the development, maintenance and the day to day management of the tax process within the hub. The General Tax Compliance Manager shall also be responsible for the review all tax reconciliations prepared within the hub and support the Africa Tax lead with the tax compliance program.Main duties and responsibilities:• Support and coordinate with Group Taxation on initiatives and projects related to the hub.• Support with the tax compliance program being managed by the Africa Tax lead.• First point of contact between the finance teams and the hub for tax compliance.• Following up on country specific tax deliverables to ensure deadlines are met• Review tax reconciliations prepared by General Ledger managers in the hub for accuracy and completeness• Review tax accounts for accuracy and completeness• Follow up on tax exemption certificates validity• Provide regular feedback to stakeholders to mitigate tax risk• Provide support during tax audits to the local teams by monitoring the process and by providing necessary documentation• Keep track of all communication to and from the tax authorities• Knowledge sharing with colleagues in the hub• Keep abreast with changes in tax complianceQualifications, Experience and Competencies• Bachelor’s Degree in accounting - required• Minimum 5-6 years tax compliance experience in big 4 or multinational - required• A chartered accountant or ACCA - preferred• Tax experience – preferred, In-depth knowledge of accounting and taxation bookkeeping processes• Excellent analytical skills with strong attention to detail• Good understanding of MS office and accounting software and ERP system (preferably Oracle)• Outstanding command of English (written and verbal) additional language skills are of advantage;• Self-motivated, ability to work independently and proactively and deadline oriented• Capable of work with other teams with good communication skills• Highly organized and structured, results driven, with willingness to learn and adapt to change• Knowledge transfer from current tax advisors to new tax advisors• Coordinate any implementation of tax tools• Customise and implement the reconciliation tool• Support the role out plan for in-house tax return preparation within the hub• Monitor and manage the implementation of any changes that occur within the tax compliance framework• Review of all tax accounts, tax reconciliations, support any tax software implementation in the Hub and offer support during tax audits and health checks• Supports with internal audit reviews• Keep track of industry trends and changes related to taxes• Participate in group discussions pertaining to their scope of workInterested candidates who meet the above qualifications and experience should send their application letter and CV by10th September 2021.
