You will report to our Director of Operations, and will be responsible for scheduling and optimizing trucking routes- both in Nairobi, Kisumu and around KenyaYour primary responsibilities will consist of 2 categories:DISTRIBUTION MANAGEMENT●Create and update fleet scheduleto ensure efficient transport of fish across the country●Continuously optimize truck routesas our business continues to expand●Monitor fleet movementto ensure on time and on temperature delivery●Manage third party partnersto ensure deliveries are meeting time and quality requirements●Manage a team of driversto execute their deliveriesMAINTENANCE COORDINATION/MANAGEMENT●Create and update fleet maintenance scheduleto ensure all assets are properly running●Manage internal and third-party vendorsto complete both planned an unplanned maintenance on time while maintaining a high level of quality●Manage and purchase spare partsto ensure common spare parts are stocked in case of routine maintenance and emergency repairs You will be the primary person responsible for ensuring on time delivery and pickup across our network. This position requires a strong ability to use logic to solve complex problems while working across interdisciplinary teams: you will be working with colleagues all the way from the farm to the branches!PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES:DISTRIBUTION MANAGEMENTCreate and update fleet schedule● Create schedule to align current fleet capacity with volume requirements across different nodes of the network● Partner with colleagues across the business to update schedule based on needs and capacity available Continuously optimize truck routes● Leverage best in class industry practices to continuously optimize and improve routing to minimize trucking time and cost● Update route mapping as new branches and nodes are added- we are always expandingMonitor fleet movement● Monitor truck movement to ensure routes are being followed and ensure fish is received at an acceptable temperature at delivery Manage third party partners● Leverage fleet reporting tools to identify routes where third party logistics companies are needed to fulfill delivery commitments● Work with Procurement to ensure our partners are fulfilling their contractual responsibilities● Monitor truck movement to ensure routes are being followed and ensure fish is received at an acceptable temperature at deliveryMAINTENANCE COORDINATION MANAGEMENTCreate and update fleet maintenance schedules● Compile and maintain a list of all mechanical assets across VF● Create preventative maintenance schedule for each asset to minimize unplanned downtime Manage internal and third-party mechanics● Identify and manage pipeline of projects that require maintenance personnel● Manage internal team of mechanics to ensure both scheduled and unscheduled maintenance is completed at high quality and on time● Identify and leverage third party mechanics when necessary (e.g., insufficient number of mechanics, niche skill required)Manage and purchase spare parts● Identify and purchase high frequency parts for each asset; maintain stock levels to reduce downtime or risk of outages● Maintain inventory list of parts and ensure purchased parts are being used (rather than buying additional stock)QUALIFICATIONS:● 5+ years of experience in fleet management and route optimization at a firm with a fleet of 15+ vehicles● Good understanding of knowledge in mechanical engineering and vehicle maintenance● Background in industrial engineering or supply chain is helpful● Ability to thrive working collaboratively with senior colleagues, solving problems independently, and in a fast-paced environment● A successful candidate will possess a strong work ethic, ability to work in teams, intellectual curiosity, and ability to structure and solve problems● Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred● An application letter with a maximum of a 2-page CVEMPLOYMENT DETAILS● Status: Full time●Benefitsincluded●Vacation Benefits● Salary:Competitive, based on experience
