Job Description/RequirementsChemonics seeks a deputy chief of party for an anticipatededucation project in Kenya. The Connectivity for Learning project aimsto strengthen the Government of Kenya’s (GOK) education system to ensurethat all classroom environments are high quality, inclusive, andfocused on the learning of foundational literacy skills. The activitywill also aim to expand its distance learning programming toward moredigitally relevant and impactful online learning solutions that areaccessible to all students, especially children in the early primarygrades. The deputy chief of party will manage technical activities andbroad project implementation; serve as the acting chief of party withresponsibility for technical project implementation and management asdirected; build collaborative relationships with governmental agencies,donor/client organizations, relevant private sector actors, and othernongovernmental organizations and institutions to enhance effectivenessand sustainability of project materials and interventions; and performother tasks as assigned by the chief of party. We are looking forindividuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives ofpeople around the world.Qualifications:Master of Business Administration or Master’s degree ineducation, curriculum development, literacy, and/or distance learninghighly preferredMinimum five years of experience as a senior academic administratorof distance learning institution, coordinating/governing body within ahigher education institution or ministry affiliate, or experience inleading large-scale enterprise projects and strategic initiatives fortelecommunications enterprises and private sector engagement5 years of demonstrated experience in international developmentactivity implementation including at least 3 years of senior programmanagement experience, including supervision of professional and supportstaffExpertise working within the education sector in sub-Saharan Africa.
